The Essence of Lavender

The mere staying power of lavender is cause for amazement...  Did you know that essence of lavender was found in King Tut’s tomb, still fragrant when it was opened, some 3000 years after entombment?

It has long been acknowledged that lavender has certain “medicinal”  “therapeutic” and “aromatic” qualities. The distilled oil of the lavender flower has been used to relieve headache pain, as a disinfectant, as an antiseptic for the cleansing of wounds, for soothing aching joints; the list goes on and on. Lavender has even been successfully used to bolster the ailing libido- the wonder of nature! 

With all of these attributes word spread of this “miracle plant” to lands far and wide from its natural and probable origin: the Mediterranean.  The Mediterraneans are famous for their Roman Bath, which were the earliest version of the Spa experience as we know it. The Mediterraneans were all about the luxury of indulging one’s self.
